It started as a game.We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won. Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose...
And my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.
He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren't supposed to be part of the deal.
But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble.
What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?
I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.
After putting an end in a long relationship, Wynn is a little bit discredited in love... That's why when she goes out in a date, Wynn isn't expecting much from the guy. And the everything goes south when she realizes their "date" is in a poker club that seems very much illegal... Definitely end up that night in jail wasn't on Wynn's plans.
But when they entered the place, her eyes goes right to the man who seems to dominate the entire room. Playboy, that's how they call him... And well, even not going to jail, Wynn's date doesn't ends very well, once her date basically sells her on the poker table to the very own Playboy! At least he wasn't a total stranger, after all Cullen Carmichael he was her friend's fiancé's brother.
And then they meet again in the next day when Cullen shows up as her pair at his brother's wedding. The attraction strucks hard between them, but the problem is that Cullen is dangerous, and that's not just his good looking face... A bet is set: they'll spend one week experiencing each other's works -- he, a professional poker player and she, an owner of an art gallery, and together they fly to Las Vegas.
But in the end of this bet, will Wynn and Cullen accept that "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", or those steamy moments they spent together will build up something more? They say that who's lucky in the game, is not so much lucky in the love... But is it possible to have both?
This book was interesting... Katy Evans used some themes that are not often used or at least that I've seen on books and I must say: poker and Vegas added a charm to the story. Wynn and Cullen are interesting and mysterious characters, each one in their own way, and the storyline hooks the reader on every chapter.
Wynn is that character that is always looking for love but after so many fails, she almost gave it up, until Cullen steps in her life. In the beginning I wasn't sure about Cullen; if he would bring problems or if he was just a mysterious guy...
Thing is: Cullen and Wynn have their own personal issues and that's something we see during the reading, really interesting. Katy Evans brings some surprises during the book, not just in situations but as also with the characters, which gives something more to the story.
A quick, different and sensual read; definitely worth it!
